The Lear Jet was an aircraft intended for business travels and military purposes. In the picture shown the Lear Jet was used to test winglets. These were used to help increase lift generated by the wing tip. In addition, it reduce the lift-induced drag caused by wingtip vortexes, improving lift-to-drag ratio.
